The following day, Sunday September 14th, we headed home. This was very soon after Hurricane Ike hit the Galveston/Houston area, and we had some trouble finding gas in the immediate Knoxville area. We did get some eventually find some – at $4.99 a gallon!! We drove west on I-40 and into on hellacious rain storm just outside of Nashville (the remains of Ike). This time however, we were headed the opposite direction from the storm, so we got out of it REALLY quickly. Well spent the evening in Russellville Arkansas, and awoke to a crisp clear fall morning. Thirteen days and 3,578 miles later – we were home.
