Cape Hatteras Lighthouse

Cape Hatteras Lighthouse is the tallest in the nation and a famous symbol of North Carolina. The current tower is actually the second one in the general area and was first light on December 16, 1871. It is 210 feet tall and can be seen for 20 miles. It is visually distinguished by its circular stripes and a flash every 7.5 seconds.
